Four Drawer Dresser
The last thing that we were able to make for my sister-in-law was a tall four drawer dresser. This one we ended up using our design.
Here is what our Home Depot list looked like:
- 3/4" 4' x 8' Plywood - 3
- 1 x 2 x 6 Pine - 2
- 1 x 2 x 8 Pine - 1
- 1 x 3 x 6 Pine - 1
- 1 x 10 x 6 Pine - 2
- 1/4" 4' x 8' Plywood - 1
- 75" of 3/4" x 1" Trim
- 4 sets of Tracks for drawers (2 for each drawer)
- 4 Hardware pulls
- Wood Glue
- 1 1/4" Pocket hole screws
- 1 1/4" wood screws
- Finishing Nails
- Minwax Stain - Provincial
Once we had all of the materials it was time for us to measure and cut everything. We needed this dresser to be 55" tall, 30" wide and 17 1/2" deep.
We first cut the two sides at 54" x 17 1/4". We then cut the bottom piece at 28 1/2" x 17 1/4". This is when we connected the two sides to the bottom with wood glue and pocket screws.
It was now time to connect the back support. We used a 1" x 3" cut at 26" and connected that to the top back side of the base using wood glue and pocket hole screws.
We then needed to start making the front frame piece. We cut two 1" x 2" boards at 54" for the sides of the front frame. Then we needed our five 1" x 3" boards that were cut at 26". We took two of these boards and connected one at the top, and one at the bottom of the two side boards, with wood glue and pocket holes to make a rectangle.
Once we had this done, we measured 10" from the bottom board then put in another 1" x 3" board. From that one we measured another 10" and put another 1" x 3" board. We measured once again 10" to put our final 1" x 3" board in. It was then time to connect the front to the two sides of the base.
We then connected the top with wood glue and pocket hole screws. Once the top was added, we put a trim around it just like we did with our night stands we built (FARMHOUSE NIGHT STANDS WITH BARN DOOR).
It was time to make the drawers. Drawer dimensions: 8 1/4" tall, 25 7/8" wide and 16" deep.
So, we cut our boards to size, glued up the drawers and secured everything with pocket hole screws. We decided at this point to connect the drawer fronts prior to adding the tracks.
Once the tracks in, we used brad nails and glue to secure a 1/4" piece of plywood to the back.
Finally, we could stain the dresser!
All that was left to do was adding the hardware. We decided to go with pulls instead of knobs.
I loved how this turned out. So simple and the color is absolutely beautiful!
