Farmhouse Night Stands with Barn Door

Who loves the Farmhouse style? I do, I do! So when my sister-in-law asked us to build these farmhouse style night stands from Shanty 2 Chic, I couldn't wait to get them done.

So, off to Home Depot we went to get the supplies.

Supplies:

  • 3/4" 4' x 8' birch plywood - 1
  • 1/4" 4' x 4' birch plywood - 1
  • 1 x 4 x 10 pine - 1
  • 1 x 4 x 8 pine - 1
  • 1 x 2 x 8 pine - 1
  • 8 feet of 3/4" x 1/2" trim
  • Barn Door Hardware
  • 1 1/4" Brad Nails
  • 1 1/4" pocket hole screws
  • 3/8" staples
  • Wood Glue
We started off by measuring and cutting everything. Once we had that done it was time to start putting them together. We used pocket hole screws and wood glue to connect everything.

First, we connected the bottom piece to the two side pieces.

We then connected the shelf in the middle.

Next we were able to build the front and back frames so we could connect them to the base.

Once that was done, we added the trim around the bottom of the base.

We then connected the top of the night stand to the base.

At this time, we stained the night stands. We used Minwax Provincial stain and used the rub-on method to stain this project.

Once the stain had dried, it was time to put on the barn door hardware and put the door on.

We loved how they turned out! They looked even better when my sister-in-law had then all set up in her bedroom. I wanted to make some for myself after.

We used the plans from Shanty 2 Chic as a guide when building these night stands.
