Where it all Began

Before we bought our home we were living in my parent's basement apartment while Matt was finishing up school. While we were living there we did a few projects here and there. Our first one was probably our headboard that we made out of an old door. I'm sure that you have seen many that have done this, as did we. But we loved the idea and thought what the heck! Luckily my cousin had a extra door just lying around that we were able to use.

Here is the door that we used. We had to cut it down to size. You will be able to see that in the next picture. 

Once we cut it down to the size that we needed we added some molding around the edges and to the top to give it more of a headboard look.

Once we filled in all of the nail holes we were able to paint it. We went with this crazy teal color. Once we had it all painted we wanted to add an aged look to it. So we sanded the edges and "roughed" it up a bit. Once we had done that we took a dark stain and an old rag and rubbed it all over the headboard.

Ta Da! Here it is! We got it hung on the wall and we were super happy with how it turned out. This is what began our journey that we are on now.
